United Way is currently accepting applications for funding through our Safety Net to support local nonprofits with a proven ability to meet the community’s needs and make a lasting, important impact in our region. Information about the System and Targeted funds will be released later this year.

Currently, we are accepting applications for funding through our Safety Net funding category to support local nonprofits with a proven ability to meet the community’s needs and make a lasting, important impact in our region. Five Things to Know Before Applying

 
  1. The Safety Net funds nonprofit organizations providing direct services in our 16-county service area to address at least one need of the 24 needs identified in the Community Needs Assessment (CNA)
  2. Safety Net grants provide support for three years with an abbreviated application every three years
  3. The Safety Net provides funding for general operating support
  4. The maximum a nonprofit can receive is 20% of the organization's budget for services within our 16-county region
  5. Accepted nonprofits will complete an annual report and receive performance reviews

When is the Safety Net application deadline?

March 10, 2020, at 5 p.m.

If my agency serves in multiple service areas and has multiple programs, do I need more than one application
for the Safety Net?

No. Agencies only submit one application to apply for Safety Net funding.

If I don’t qualify for Safety Net funding, when can I apply for funding for System and Targeted funds?

The RFPs for System and Targeted funding will be released in June 2020 and January 2021, respectively. Nonprofits are required to submit separate applications for each funding category they wish to be considered for, and you can submit one application per Request for Proposal (RFP). You can sign up to receive alerts about United Way funding opportunities here.

What is the timeline for the other United Way funding categories?

The RFPs for System Pool and Targeted funds will be released in June 2020 and January 2021, respectively. You can view the full timeline for the other funding categories, here.
