United Way of Greater St. Louis Accepts
Cy Pres Awards
A Cy Pres award allows unclaimed or leftover funds from a class action settlement or legal judgment to be distributed to a nonprofit organization that serves an important public purpose or whose mission aligns with the original lawsuit. This ensures that the funds are used to support causes that benefit a broader community or advance a related cause.
United Way of Greater St. Louis is dedicated to helping people live their best lives by uniting resources, funding, and the community. We focus on five key areas: basic needs, early childhood and youth success, health and well-being, jobs and financial mobility, and community stability and crisis response.
In 16 counties across Missouri and Illinois, we support over 160 nonprofits with funding and training resources to maintain a strong safety net. We also operate the region’s largest Volunteer Center, engaging thousands of individuals, companies and groups in meaningful volunteer work.
Our 211 helpline offers 24/7 access to local resources and services, responding to over 200,000 requests for help each year. We aim to create a stronger, healthier, and more equitable St. Louis region through these efforts.
