UYL Corner

A Stronger Commitment. A Greater Impact.

As our network of emerging philanthropic leaders continues to grow, United Young Leaders is taking an important step forward. This is your space to explore current volunteer opportunities, events, and leadership experiences.

Beginning September 15, 2026 (Campaign Kickoff Day), the minimum annual contribution for UYL membership will increase from $25 to $100.

This increased investment will strengthen our collective impact across the region and further position UYL as a pathway into United Way’s Leadership Giving network. Together, members help create more opportunity for local individuals and families while building connections, growing as leaders, and expanding their community impact.

What It Means for You

If you’re currently giving $100 or more — no action needed. Your membership continues as-is, and we’re grateful for your commitment.

If you’re currently giving less than $100 — you’ll receive a personal note from our team in early September. Your contribution will be updated to $100 annually on September 15. We know change can raise questions; please feel free to connect with the Leadership Giving Team at [email protected].

A group of people is smiling and posing in front of a brick building with a sign that says "LifeWise STL." They are wearing casual clothing, some sporting team-branded shirts. It is a cool, sunny day.

Thanks for Joining Us at LifeWise STL

UYL members put leadership into action during a recent volunteer opportunity at LifeWise STL. Nine members spent time restocking the store and thrift shop, sorting donations, and helping prepare resources for the community. The group also toured the LifeWise facility, providing an opportunity to learn more about the organization’s work and the impact of community support.

Three smiling people hold up grocery bags filled with food outside a building, dressed casually in sunglasses. Blue recycling bins are visible in the background.

Looking for a fun, meaningful way to step into a leadership role?

Become a UYL Volunteer Coordinator!

Volunteer Coordinators lead a one-time service project with one of United Way’s safety net partner organizations—making a real impact while building leadership skills.

Here’s how it works:

  • Partner with United Way staff to choose a project, date, and location.
  • We handle registration and connect you with our volunteer group
  • From there, you take the lead!

As a Volunteer Coordinator, you’ll:

  • Connect with and communicate with your group leading up to the event
  • Guide and energize volunteers on the day of service
  • Create a positive, welcoming experience for everyone involved
  • Optionally, organize a casual post-service hangout (coffee, lunch, a walk in the park – your call!)

This is a one-time commitment with a big impact—and a great way to meet people, give back, and try out a leadership role in a low-pressure way.

Eligibility:
Volunteer Coordinators must be active members of United Young Leaders (UYL).
