United Way of Greater St. Louis Names 154 Nonprofits for 2027-2029 Safety Net
United Way of Greater St. Louis (UWGSL) announces its 2027–2029 Safety Net, a group of local nonprofits serving a 16-county region across Missouri and Illinois.
Together, these nonprofits form United Way’s Safety Net—a collaborative network of agencies that deliver an array of essential direct services to address the region’s most pressing needs by helping families and individuals work toward stability across five impact areas.
United Way equips more than 150 local nonprofits with vital funding and training resources to address basic needs such as food and housing, while also supporting long-term stability through education, health and well-being, jobs, and financial mobility.
“A strong safety net is essential to the health of our region,” said Michelle Tucker, President and CEO of United Way of Greater St. Louis. “Every day, organizations across our region are helping families meet basic needs and move toward stability. Our role is to support and strengthen that work—so more people can access help today and build a path forward for tomorrow.”
The United Way Regional Investment Committee, alongside 23 community volunteers, selected 154 nonprofit agencies. These organizations will become part of United Way’s Safety Net beginning in 2027. Funding for current Safety Net members continues through the end of this year, with funding for the new cohort to be finalized following United Way’s Community Campaign later this year.
This investment reflects United Way’s longstanding role in connecting funding, nonprofits, and resources to ensure communities have access to the support they need.
Each year, United Way helps more than 1 million people across the region—that’s 1 in 3 neighbors supported through programs, services, and initiatives that meet both immediate and long-term needs.
