3 Ways to help RIGHT NOW during COVID-19

During these challenging times, everyone has an important role. For some, it’s working to help the sick, protecting our most vulnerable, or even providing an essential service to one of our neighbors. For others, it’s volunteering time where appropriate to ensure people on the front lines have what they need or staying home to keep others and ourselves safe.

Our community is coming together even while staying apart. We have worked hard to collaborate with other organizations, local nonprofits and our partners to make sure we are doing all we can to help our region.

3 ways you can get involved (right now!).

Rounding up with Schnucks

While we are all doing our part to stay home, there are times when we may need to venture out for food and prescription necessities or to provide a helping hand when needed most.

Schnuck Markets is supplying essential items during this time and now they’re giving customers a way to give back. We’re proudly partnering with Schnucks through April 19 to participate in their “Round up at the Register” campaign which allows customers to round up to the nearest dollar. Collectively, these round-ups can make a huge difference to our community, especially since 100% of proceeds are going to support those impacted by COVID-19.

We continue to see local companies and individuals step up to use their skills and talents to give back during this difficult time to make us all stronger. Not only are Schnucks employees helping us have access to essential items, but they’re also giving us a way to give back together.

A nonprofit partnership to save lives

With hundreds of blood drives in our area canceled during this crisis, the American Red Cross is facing a severe shortage of available blood and locations to host blood drives.

As an American Red Cross partner, we are hosting a public drive on Wednesday, April 15, to help replenish the American Red Cross’ supplies. If you aren’t experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, haven’t been exposed to the virus, and are cleared to give blood, consider booking an appointment.

Volunteers make it possible for the Red Cross to meet the immediate needs of those that require life-saving blood. The American Red Cross is taking important health and sanitation precautions at all of their locations to ensure the safety of volunteers and donors at all blood drives. If you can’t make it to our drive on April 15, many Red Cross locations are taking appointments. Find a location near you.

Getting counted means a brighter future

The 2020 Census is in full swing and it helps cities plan for school class sizes, health facilities, public transit and placement of grocery stores. At United Way, we’re encouraging you to call, mail or complete your census online while staying home. Help us make sure our community has an accurate count while practicing social distancing!
