United Way recently awarded one-time grants to organizations providing programs and services for youth in East St. Louis, Illinois. The primary focus was on expanding programming to help prepare children and youth for school and life by providing activities such as leadership development, relationship and life skills, cultural enrichment, recreation, employment, academic and educational support, mentoring, and career exploration.

Catholic Urban Programs – Awarded $25,440
Griffin Center Trinity Site: Expansion of afterschool and summer camp programs to provide academic and social/emotional skills development

Christian Activity Center – Awarded $25,440
Everyday I’m Calculatin’ Math Program: Enhancement of academic instruction on math skills for K-5th grade youth and increase parent/caregiver involvement in math education

Lessie Bates Davis Neighborhood House – Awarded $25,440
Youth Education and Development: Expansion and enhancement of afterschool and out of school programming to provide tutoring and academic enrichment and promote healthy lifestyles

Nu Chi Foundation – Awarded $25,440
Project Manhood Program: Provide educational sessions and field activities for African American males 8 – 18 years

Sinai Family Life Center – Awarded $25,440
Afterschool Enrichment Program: Provide safe and nurturing environment to improve academic performance, teach social and life skills training, recreational activities, and meals
