Our story began in 1922 when a group of dedicated community leaders and businesses united to better their community and the lives of their neighbors.
One hundred years later, our local United Way has raised and invested nearly $3 billion into hundreds of nonprofits and programs that have supported the community with immediate basic needs such as food, shelter and transportation as well as long-term support like youth programming, education, job training, and counseling.
So, join us, as we embark on the next 100 years with a renewed sense of purpose and hope for our community and our neighbors, helping local people live their best possible lives.
Through tough times that affect us all or times that are tough for just a few, what we do now is critical to paving a path to a better tomorrow. Your gift enables United Way to provide stable funding throughout the year to a network of more than 160 local high-performing nonprofits that address a breadth of needs for our community.
Whether you can make a one-time $5 donation or become a monthly donor, you can be confident your support helps local people regain stability and build a brighter future.

Volunteering has been a huge part of our 100-year history, so through a special year-long initiative, Volunteer100, we’re asking for people across the region to volunteer with one of our safety net partners as a way to join the celebration and give back! Take a photo while you’re volunteering and post it on social and tag us at @UnitedWaySTL and #Volunteer100.See our opportunities
